Battle of the Bands

On April 20th, we teamed up with the Rotary Club of Corringham Thameside and the Yellow Advertiser to bring you a spectacular sold out Battle of the Bands event in aid of the Karis May Darling Foundation. A fantastic night was had, with 6 bands performing, and over £1390 was raised for the fantastic cause.

Originally, there were 12 bands – where over two four hour shows in March with Ryan and Charlie, they were whittled down to only 6 – chosen by those who text their votes into us. The six finalists were:

-The Ends (1st Place)
- Something Simple (2nd Place)
- Accidental Tourists (3rd Place)
- Pretty Strange Things
- New Era
- Soma Rising

However, only one band could win! Congratulations to The Ends who won the event overall, winning over the judges and the audience, who win a trophy, chances to play with us throughout the summer at some of our events, coverage in the Yellow Advertiser, but they’ll also be performing at the Sparks Will Fly event at the Basildon Sporting Village in preparation for the Olympics!

Commiseration to the bands which didn’t make it through to the finals, however all is not lost as we are planning to do things with them soon in the future. These are:

- Green Mile
- I Prefer Space Travel
- Blackstorm Sound
- False Heads
- We Were Lions
- My Heroine
