Gateway Community Media CIC is a not-for-profit social enterprise that works with local people, companies and organisations to promote community awareness, regeneration, cohesion and understanding through locally generated media and the development of  media skills. In other words, really local radio, by, about and for everyone in its reception area.

It seeks to be accessible to everyone interested in media related activities irrespective of age, gender, ethnicity, disability, disadvantage, sexuality or faith. It seeks to provide or enable training tailored to individual needs and to this end to work with schools, colleges, local and national government agencies.

In particular it is working towards delivering Gateway FM, a full-time community radio service for the people of Basildon, East Thurrock, Stanford le Hope, Corringham, Fobbing, South Benfleet, Canvey, Thundersley Wickford, Gt Burstead, and surrounding villages.

At present it is streaming via the web on www.gatewayfm.com and is heard through Basildon's Eastgate Centre.

It will be broadcast on 87.7FM from 23^rd June to 20^th July and once again later in the year. It  is seeking the award of a full time licence from OFCOM in order to start a 24/7 service at the earliest opportunity in 2009.

Gateway FM operates from two studios. One in Basildon's Eastgate Centre, the other in Kelting House, Basildon. It is seeking opportunities to develop further 'satellite' studio facilities elsewhere within the catchment area. Suitable sites include schools, colleges and community centres.
