Gateway FM always has a welcome for
volunteers, for there are so many areas needing extra support.
Of course, if you fancy being on air there are
opportunities for presenters, interviewers and newsreaders; features, sports
and news journalists.
In addition, we are looking to establish a
network of 'citizen journalists', people living in various different areas
who can be deployed to cover events local to them --- our reporters 'on the
spot'. We hope to be able to train them not only in radio, but to work
towards helping them become skilled at sound and vision recording in order
to help realise our ambition to augment our website with video as well as
sound, text and graphics.
Which means another area of opportunities for
volunteers.
There are creative openings for short story
writers, dramatists and actors, musicians, voice-over artists and
presenters of special interest material in areas such as fishing, gardening,
astronomy, nature and conservation.
And to support all this we need editors and
researchers as well as people prepared to pitch in and help with whatever is
needed --- sometimes supporting our Roadshow team, sometimes going out on
Outside Broadcasts, sometimes in one of our studios or helping with the
website.
Naturally, we offer training so that whether
it's radio for fun, or you wish to gain experience to help your career
development, we can give you the support you need.
In the office there is always a need for
volunteers to man the phones and help with our admin. And if you are
interested in selling, then we welcome volunteers interested in selling our
advertising, recording and training opportunities.
Then there's the technical team --- the guys
who make sure everything works properly and in accordance with all health
and safety guidelines. If you fancy the techie side --- then there are
opportunities here too.
